We challenge you to name one person in your circle who hasn’t experienced dry skin? You’ll likely come up empty. Dry skin ranges from clinically diagnosed skin disorders like eczema to chapped winter hands, and it can be tough to tame. Too many people browse big box store aisles for inexpensive sugar scrub oils, creams, lotions, and oils to soothe the skin and mistake the greasy sheen as a sign of healthy skin. And it’s true — drug store moisturizers may help some skin types for a certain amount of time.

But a glance at the ingredient list shows you exactly why they are so inexpensive: they contain mineral oil, synthetic colors, parabens, and alcohol, which can cause redness, itching, and dryness (yes – dryness!), especially for sensitive skin. These types of moisturizers may not be hard on your wallet now, but you’ll pay one way or the other!

Our founder, Mary, knows the pain -literal pain- of dry, chapped skin. After years of battling with her sensitive skin, she developed the Scrub Me Good sugar scrub recipe we know and love.

Today we’re shining a spotlight on the premium sugar scrub oils that make up our signature product!

 Why oil-based moisturizers?

Sugar scrubs remove the outermost layer of the skin containing dead skin cells while brightening, smoothing, and unveiling softer skin. The magic, however, is in the moisturizing properties of premium sugar scrub oil.

Flaky, chapped, and dry skin can pop up from allergic reactions, environmental factors, and lack of moisture in your body (dehydration), or lack of oils in your skin (dryness). Dehydrated skin needs more water. Dry skin lacks sebum, the natural oils in your skin. Sugar scrub not only exfoliates but leaves the good stuff your skin drinks up.

What’s in it?

Our scrubs contain the only whole, natural ingredients, including sugar, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, Vitamin E, and natural fragrances (essential oils or all-natural fragrances). This blend of sugar scrub oil is specifically chosen for its skin-moisturizing benefits.

Here is how each ingredient helps your skin stay soft and supple:

Coconut oil improves the skin’s barrier layer, traps moisture inside, and keeps the skin hydrated.

Sweet almond oil has anti-inflammatory properties, which help soothe dry skin, reduce scars, and improve cell turnover.

Avocado oil’s antioxidant agents help to keep the skin smooth and elastic.

Vitamin E oil works as a moisturizer to prevent flaking or dry skin.

Although sugar scrub is effective and luxurious on its own, sometimes you need a little fragrant pick-me-up. Our sugar scrubs contain essential oils and natural fragrances that provide some additional beauty and health support:

Lavender – Lavender has helped to enhance sleep and relaxation for centuries. Now, this multipurpose oil is being used to balance moisture content in the skin. The anti-inflammation trait of this oil works as a natural hydrator to repair skin without making it sticky.

Rosemary – Rosemary is known for soothing painful muscles.

Peppermint – The merits of peppermint extend beyond treating headaches. Its natural methanol content creates an analgesic effect for the skin and cools down skin rashes.

From reducing scars and stretch marks to supporting your skin’s natural glow, essential oils give our sugar scrubs a little something extra–and smell darn good.
